The Fire Department asks property owners to make sure that their house numbers are clearly visible from the street. Residences located on laneways should also have house numbers posted at the beginning of the laneway. Under Massachesetts General Law, all laneways (public & private) are required to be a minimum of eighteen feet wide to accommodate emergency vehicles and be kept clear from obstructions.
