Senior Center
10th Anniversary Celebration
Please join the staff of the Westport Council on Aging on Saturday, December 2, 2006, for our 10th Year Anniversary of the Opening of the Hazel Tripp Senior Center! We have not always had this beautiful building for our operations: the WCOA began in one room in the Town Hall Annex, with the Senior Social Day Program opening in the basement of the Westport Middle School in June 1993. The Transportation Program was begun in July 1995. It was not until December 7, 1996 that a large number of very dedicated Westporters succeeded in obtaining this site and the grant funding to restructure the building.
Come and listen to their stories, see the building, talk with the staff, have refreshments, and enjoy a cabaret performance by Lisa Manning and her puppets.
Activities begin at 10:30 a.m. and end at 1:30 p.m.
“Treat yourself while shopping at the Friends “Holiday Fair”
Massage therapists, Karen and Sheryl, will be at the Senior Center on
Tuesday, December 5, from 12:00 – 1:30 p.m.,
and
Wednesday, December 6, from 8:00 a.m. – 9:30 a.m.
to give aromatherapy hand massages and chair massages.
Come and take care of yourself while supporting the
Friends of the Westport Council on Aging’s fundraising event.

SCAM ALERT
The National Council on Aging has sent a notice that personal information is again being sought, this time by “Social Security”.
The subject matter is titled “Cost-of-Living for 2007 update”. The message provides information about the 3.3% benefit increase for 2007 and says the recipient must update his/her personal information. The reader is then directed to a website designed to look like Social Security’s website. The phony site asks the reader for personal information such as a Social Security number, bank account, and credit card information.
This is entirely phony.
If seniors receive this email message, they are requested to call 1-800-269-0271, or report it online at www.socialsecurity.gov/oig

FRIENDS OF THE WESTPORT
COUNCIL ON AGING, INC.
Supporting the Senior Center
P. O. Box N-192
Westport, MA 02790
Once again, the holiday season is here and the Friends of the Westport Council on Aging will be holding a “Holiday Fair” the first week of December. Our "set-up" day is Sunday, December 3rd, so if you have any items (except toys and clothes) to donate, please bring them to the Senior Center no later than Friday, December 1st. All proceeds from our “Holiday Fair” go to the Senior Center. As you know, the Friends have provided many things to the Center - including air conditioning, vans, furnishings and other things the Town funds do not cover.
On Wednesday, December 5th, there will be a Bake Sale as part of our “Holiday Fair”.
In early November, the Friends started the process of publishing the Westport Telephone Book - which everyone uses and loves. We sent forms to all our current advertisers as well as new businesses in town. If you or someone you know would like to advertise in the Telephone Book (it's two years of coverage for a modest cost) and you need a form, just call 508-636-1026 and a member of the Friends will gladly send the necessary forms.
We wish you a very Healthy and
Happy Holiday Season!!!
