Social Day Program: Activity Director/Adm. Asst. and Program Aide

Program Aide
Senior Social Day Care Program
Definition:
Assists the Social Day Program Director and Assistant Director in maintaining a safe, caring, and nurturing environment for people ages 60 and over who require non-medical social day care.
Distinguishing Characteristics:
Works under the supervision of the Council on Aging Director and the Social Day Care Program Director and in conformity with controlling local and state regulations.
Works under direct supervision of the Social Day Care Program Director and Assistant Director to carry out program activities and supervise program participants.
Errors could result in personal injury, property damage and monetary loss.
Does not have access to confidential information regarding Social Day Care clients.
Some physical effort required in performing duties.
Qualifications:
Must have command of the English language both verbally and written; bilingual a plus. Must be able to work as a team member and relate professionally with clients and staff on all levels in a caring, cheerful, and cooperative manner.

Activities Director / Administrative Assistant
Social Day Care Program
Definition:
Coordinates the day-to-day operation of the Senior Social Day Care Activities Program for people ages 60 and over who require non-medical day care; all other related work as required.
Distinguishing Characteristics:
Works under the supervision of the Social Day Care Director, in conformity with controlling local and state regulations.
Performs clerical duties of a varied and responsible nature.
Processes information accurately and in a timely manner -errors could result in confusion or delay in processing important information.
Has access to confidential information relating to Social Day Care.
Able to undertake special projects as needed and perform additional duties if assigned, for those projects.
Some physical effort required in performing duties.
Examples of Work:
Designs an activity program that best suits the clientele to promote their highest practical levels of physical, mental and psychological well-being. This should be obtained through both individual and group programs.
Produces a monthly activity calendar. Oversees the requisition and maintenance of recreational equipment and supplies.
Maintains records; obtains and compiles information needed for monthly and yearly reports.

Qualifications:
Must have command of the English language both verbally and written. Must be able to work as a team member and relate professionally with staff on all levels in a cheerful and cooperative manner.
Eligible for certification as an Activities Professional by NCCAP or have at least two years experience in a social or recreational program. Must have experience and training in record keeping, client documentation, and program development. If not certified, must continue education and work towards certification.
