Recent House Fire

On June 29, at 1:45 pm, the Westport Fire Department received a call of a structure fire at 149 Plymouth Blvd.  Arriving  apparatus found a two-story wood frame dwelling, fully involved in smoke and fire.  Due to the location of the dwelling, which was down a hill, firefighters were forced to stretch hand lines to the structure.

 

The fire, which was brought under control in approximately an hour, caused and estimated $200,000 in damage to the structure and it’s contents.

 

The Westport Fire Investigation Unit remained on the scene to conduct an origin and cause investigation.  They were able to confirm, the no one was home at the time of the fire, which was called in by a neighbor.

 

At the scene with Westport were the Tiverton Fire Department, Providence Canteen and the Westport Ladies Auxiliary.

 

The owner of the property was listed as Emile & Anna Boulos of Westport.  There were no reported injuries.

 

The Westport Fire Department responded three engines, a tanker, a ladder and a rescue to the scene.
