Westport Affordable Housing Trust Draft Action Plan for your Comment
Draft Action Plan ready for your review and comment - deadline May 14, 2010
The Board of Trustees of the Westport Affordable Housing Trust Fund is pleased to present our draft Action Plan for public review and comment. The Board of Selectmen appointed the five-member Board of Trustees in February 2010 to oversee the new Westport Affordable Housing Trust Fund, which Town Meeting voted to adopt in May 2009. The purpose of the Trust is to help people with modest incomes afford the cost of owning or renting housing in Westport.
Through the Board’s work with planning consultant Jennifer Goldson of JM Goldson community preservation + planning we’ve created this draft Action Plan by identifying Westport’s housing needs, holding a public planning workshop, and considering best practices and strategies. The draft Action Plan describes our goals and priority initiatives for fiscal years (FY) 2011-2013, with a proposed budget to support implementation of the priority initiatives. The Community Preservation Committee voted to recommend appropriation of the Town’s Community Preservation Act funds to support our proposed FY 2011 budget. This request will be considered as part of CPC’s allocation for 2011 funding at the upcoming Town Meeting on May 25.
We encourage all members of the public to review the draft and provide the Board with feedback and suggestions no later than Friday May 14th. Comments may be sent to Jennifer Goldson by email (jennifer@jmgoldson.com), fax (866-275-0174), or mail (217 Beech Street, Roslindale, MA 02131). With your comments, please provide your name and contact information so that we also have a way to reach you. Please note that any comments received after May 14th may not be able to be incorporated into the Board of Trustee’s consideration of the final Action Plan.
