TOWN OF WESTPORT COMMISSION ON DISABILITY
A quorum being present, Chairperson Elaine Ostroff called the meeting to order at 9:05 am at the Westport Council on Aging. Members present: Stanley Cornwall, Selena Howard, Elaine Ostroff, Sybil Burba, Michael Ouimet and guests John Branco and Lindsey Lee.
John gave a wonderful presentation of his efforts over many years to make health officials and others understand the debilitating effects of this disease and to help all of us understand this disease. Doctors and no one seemed understand his problems. After his presentation the Commission did some brainstorming and came up with some ideas to help raise awareness in Westport about MCS. This could include video interviews, wall posters, information about irritants, brochures, setting up a page on our website about MCS. His explanation about petroleum-based factors in common household products atmosphere is deeply appreciated.
To be voted on at our next meeting due to lack of time.
Elaine, Mike and John Pelletier met at the Town Hall Annex and had a teleconference with the ADA consultants. They discussed changes to be made in the reports to make them more legible and easier to understand.
Lindsay spoke about her senior project research paper; she will be presenting it at the high school on March 23. Elaine may be able to attend the power-point presentation at the high school. The COD hopes to view Lindsay’s report via a DVD at the Senior Center. Stanley made a motion for Lee to recruit some juniors who would like to work with the COD. Seconded by Selena
